Professor A. Manickam is an experienced Indian mathematician and academic whose career combines teaching excellence, research productivity, and academic leadership across applied mathematics and interdisciplinary modelling. He currently serves as Associate Professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology and also holds a Visiting Professor / Research Associate role at University of Johannesburg. He earned his PhD in Mathematics from Bharathidasan University in 2016, following earlier postgraduate studies from the same university.
His research interests are broad and strongly application-oriented, spanning mathematical modelling, computational biology, fractional differential equations, stochastic processes, queueing theory, fuzzy systems, graph theory, and numerical methods. A significant portion of his work focuses on biomedical and endocrine-system modelling, where statistical and dynamical methods are used to study hormone secretion, stress responses, disease progression, and physiological regulation. He has also contributed to epidemic modelling, financial prediction, environmental hazards, and computational approaches to real-world systems.
Professor Manickam has developed a substantial publication record with dozens of papers in journals indexed in Scopus, ESCI, and Web of Science. His work has appeared in outlets such as International Journal of Dynamics and Control, Advances in Continuous and Discrete Models, Contemporary Mathematics, Computational and Mathematical Biophysics, and Mathematical Modelling and Computing. His publications demonstrate versatility, moving between theoretical mathematics and data-driven modelling problems.
Beyond research, he has extensive teaching experience across engineering and science institutions in India, having served in positions ranging from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor at universities such as Vellore Institute of Technology, Vel Tech University, and other colleges. He has taught a wide range of subjects including calculus, probability, operations research, graph theory, numerical methods, linear algebra, queueing models, and stochastic processes.
He has also shown strong academic service through conference organization, invited talks, editorial board memberships, peer reviewing for international journals, doctoral committee work, and supervision of PhD scholars. His leadership roles have included Head of Department, examination coordination, accreditation work, and research program management.
Overall, Professor A. Manickam is a productive and multidisciplinary scholar whose profile reflects a rare combination of mathematical theory, practical modelling, teaching depth, and institutional leadership. His continued engagement in both Indian and international academia positions him as a valuable contributor to modern applied mathematics and computational sciences.
